I've been a professional Photographer since 1992, and I've had some fantastic assignments over the years. I've worked for the Government at a contractor and as an Federal employee . My favorite assignment was 2007 through 2010, when I worked as an official photographer for the National Park Service. I got so see parts of America that very few people get to see. Every day after I finished my official photographer's duties, I took advantage of my location and ( with the permission of the Secretary of the Interior) I started my own project of documenting the beauty of the National Parks through my eyes. I ended up hiking a few thousand miles through the most beautiful places in the country.
I was fortunate to have traveled to over 150 National Parks in all 50 US States, and I can tell you....they really are "America's Best Idea". With that tour of duty behind me I am sharing my work in gallery exhibitions across the country and leading Hiking Photography workshops at National Parks. I am also developing a new television series for a major TV network where I will be re-hiking my favorite trails across the USA and teaching the viewers how to capture the ultimate image. I'll be using my skills as a former US Army Paratrooper to get myself into places that will allow me to take very unique photos of the places I love. We are currently in pre-production and expect to start airing episodes of "The Warrior Artist" in the fall.
I am a veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment 85-89 I reside in Virginia with my Wife, Lisa and Wilson, our Great Dane.
Upcoming Hike and Shoot Tours
I will be leading a series of Hike and Shoot workshops in the Mid Atlantic area in the spring of 2013. A "Hike and Shoot" is a workshop for photographers of all skill levels, from beginner to professional. We'll explore the area's best hiking trails and stop several times along the way for mini-classes, covering photographic and hiking skills. We'll start with the basics and add skills along the way so that by the end of the hike, you are ready to make your masterpiece photograph. In addition to photographic skills, the instructor will also teach you field skills that you can use on every future hike you take. All you need to bring is your camera, your tripod, and a dedication to have fun and learn the art of photography.
